CROSS-STRAIT RELATIONS: MAJOR ACTORS
There are several major actors involved in the cross-strait dynamic. The two major actors are China and Taiwan. The third major actor and only foreign power involved in the dynamic is the United States. Given its alliance with the US as well as historical consideration, Japan is an actor in the cross-strait relationship , but it is unclear whether or not what role Japan would play in the event of an outbreak of conflict between the US and China over Taiwan.
